A shop selling alleged Highlanders and Dynamos replica jersey’s was raided by police in Bulawayo on Monday while another shop was raided in Harare last week.

Highlanders club chairman Peter Dube yesterday told Southern Eye Sport that the clampdown on those who sell purported Highlanders material will be dealt with.

“With the help of the law enforcers, two shops one in Harare and another in Bulawayo selling fake replica jerseys were raided.

If there are people who have the Highlanders regalia it can only be destroyed now and not marketed. We are now looking into the issue and we hope to pursue the matter to the courts.

“These people are violating the club’s rights, but we are trying to protect the club. The products are cheap materials we understand are from China and Tanzania. They are trying to cash in using the name of the club,” he said.

The Bulawayo shop situated along Robert Mugabe Way was displaying Highlanders and Dynamos replica jerseys, selling them for $15.

Ten jerseys were seized at the Robert Mugabe shop.

There are flea market stands selling Highlanders regalia which includes T-shirts, caps and flags while in the past some have sold the regalia in the stadium.

Dube said they will ensure that individuals do not gain using the club’s name.

“If anyone wants to sell Highlanders regalia they must ensure that they get approval from the club and a seal of approval from the club.

We will raid anyone who sells the Highlanders regalia without permission because the club is not getting anything,” he said.

The original Highlanders replica jerseys are $50 each.
