A 50-year-old Old Magwegwe suburb man is recovering at Mpilo Hospital after his throat was almost slit by a friend over a dollar during a beer binge.

Mtshumayeli Moyo was allegedly stabbed by a yet to be identified friend using a broken bottle around 5pm on Saturday inside Insizwa Beer Garden in.
It is alleged that on the fateful day the two were drinking together before an altercation ensued.
Moyo is said to have told his friend to stop harassing one of their drinking partners known as MaMlotshwa who owed Moyo a $ 1.
It is alleged the assailant took exception and reportedly broke a soft drink bottle, which he used to cut Moyo’s neck with.
Simelokuhle Moyo, the daughter of the victim, said her father sustained serious injuries after being attacked.
“We were sitting at home and we were told that my father had been taken to the hospital for treatment after his throat had been slit by his friend he usually drinks with,” she said.
