League fixtures secretary Precious Mudenge yesterday said Ntutu Sparrows were due to play Phakamani, but the match was cancelled.

“Ntutu Sparrows was supposed to play Phakamani at Highlanders Clubhouse, but Phakamani said they could not travel to fulfil the fixture as they failed to get travelling money from their sponsor.

“We had to reschedule on short notice resulting in Ntutu Sparrows being fixtured against Old Nic,” she said.

After the win, Ntutu Sparrows took their unbeaten record to 14 games while Old Nic are on position 13 on the log table with six points from the same number of games.

It was yet another bad result for Old Nic as they lost 29-6 to Sobukhazi at Sobukhazi High School in their second game of the day.

The victory was the first for Sobukhazi who have also struggled in the league losing six matches out of the seven they have played.

Lobengula Queens beat Sobukhazi 47-8 in another game played at Lobengula Youth Centre on Saturday.

Railstars increased their chances of moving to second spot on the log standings after beating Ntabazinduna Prison 55-5 away on Saturday.

Railstars are third on the log table with 36 points same as second placed Jumbo Queens.

Railstars now have a chance of moving to second spot if they win their next games as Jumbo Queens are three games ahead.

In other games played on Saturday, Freestars beat Fairbridge 27-21 while Zesa beat ZRP Ntabazinduna 42-7.
