The 30-member group shined at the finals that ran under the theme Ubuntu/Unhu, pocketing $1 000 and a floating shield.
Elton Sibanda from Gifford High School was crowned best actor of the competition.
Bridget Sayers, the drama patron for Gifford High School, said they were happy with the results as they managed to stand out at the national finals despite tough competition from other schools.
“I couldn’t believe it when we won the competition because it was tight and I was impressed by the way my pupils showed composure and maturity at the big stage. I am happy that our children have done the City of Kings proud,” Sayers said.
The provincial arts and culture officer for Bulawayo Central, Siqondiso Moyo, added her voice.
“As a province we are happy that students did well and they put -up a splendid performance. All I can say is that they have mastered art and if they continue performing like this, Bulawayo will have good actors in the future,” she said.
