WBU had sanctioned local boxing promoter Delta Force to stage the bout pitting Zimbabwean boxer Tapiwa Tembo and Zambian Gibon Kamota.

But the Zimbabwe National Boxing Control Board had earlier threatened to cancel the fight accusing the tournament organisers of flouting boxing regulations.

Tournament organisers’ representative Clyde Musonda confirmed the postponement, but allayed fears that it had been cancelled.

“The fight has been postponed,” he said.

“We have notified WBU and they told us to reschedule the fight on or before December 22 2013, to which we have agreed. As tournament organisers, we will come up with the actual date of the fight after we have conducted consultations with all our stakeholders.”
