Majaya is among 37 karatekas who made it to various belts as they were graded by Zimbabwe JSKA chief instructor Sensei Bryon Ndiripo.

The exercise saw athletes coming from Mozambique, Kariba and Bulawayo as they strutted their stuff under the watchful eyes of Ndiripo and Sensei Ashley Mushakwe.

Bulawayo Karate Association public relations officer Sensei Greatman Sibanda, who represented MKU, congratulated Majaya for a job well done.

He also said he was impressed by the two Dalion brothers Lilly and Dalton from Kariba who put up superb displays during their rehearsals.

Lilly (14) the elder brother was graded to brown while the nine-year-old Dalton was graded from orange to blue belt.

“Majaya did well and he was graded to the next level. I would like to congratulate him. It was a well-organised event, but the day went to the Dalion brothers who at tender ages performed advanced katas with superb skills. They were a marvel to watch,” Sibanda said.

“I think athletes from Kariba did very well overally and they attributed their success to their community who support the sport.”

Felix Chauromwe a resident magistrate of Kariba got a senior purple belt from white belt while the highest belt went to Simon Mushati from Mozambique who was graded to shodan black belt.

Mushati went under a vigorous grading which included a bush attack and a corridor attack by eight instructors.
