Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo High School (Matabeleland South), TS Alliance (Harare) are the men’s teams that will represent the country in the men’s section while Ajax (Bulawayo) and Danamombe from Masvingo are the women’s teams.

The four clubs were selected at the national season championships that were held in Gweru last month. Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) secretary-general Alphios Magiya yesterday confirmed to Southern Eye Sport that the four clubs will compete against other African countries in the championships.

“We would like to congratulate the clubs for winning and coming second in the National Season Championships. Against this background ZHF is greatly honoured to announce that your club has earned itself an opportunity to participate in the 30th Men and Women’s Africa Clubs Championships for Winners Cup in Congo from May 15-26 May,” he said.

However, the clubs have to source their own funds for the trip.

“We are only facilitating; It is the duty of the clubs to look for their own funds. We do not have the financial capacity to fund the clubs because we do not have the funds as an association,” he said.

Magiya said they are expected to forward the names of the players to African Handball Confederation by Thursday.
