The annual event is set to kickstart in the Midlands starting tomorrow to Easter Monday. Various provincial associations are expected to send their top clubs, but by yesterday BUZ were yet to confirm the number of provinces that would send their clubs.

Manicaland Basketball Association (MBA) has already indicated they would boycott the event after being stripped of their right to host this year’s event.

The boycott might be a major blow to the association because MBA has some of the best basketball teams in the country.

Despite the pending boycott by the MBA some of the reputable provinces that are the expected to take part at the tournament are the Midlands, Bulawayo and Harare.

Mashonaland West, East, and Central are expected to send their respective teams although they are normally ranked as outsiders.

BUZ president Addison Chiware said MBA boycott was not official, but said he was generally expecting a tough competition.
