Organisers of the gig claimed it would be the biggest show this year in Bulawayo and coinciding with the official opening of ZITF 2014 by President Robert Mugabe. Mugabe is due to officially open the trade fair on Friday before it closes the following day.

Friday show’s organiser Tafadzwa Maridhadhi told Southern Eye Lifestyle that all was set for the event expected to be graced by participants at ZITF 2014.

“All is set for the show which will see high-flying artists sharing the stage. The sungura and dancehall- starved fans in the city should expect energy-filled performances by the four artists billed to perform. Fans should come in their numbers and dance the night away. A lot has been prepared,” he said.

Joe Nyamungoma, Sulu’s manager echoed the same sentiments Maridhadhi.

“We are to descend and like always we will deliver what we know best in the City of Kings and Queens, we promise the best of dendera music to our fans,” he said.

The Batai munhu hit-maker Sulu who has proved to be the most sought-after sungura artist has made Bulawayo his second home.

“Bulawayo is our home and we love performing before such beautiful and appreciative audience,” Nyamungoma added.

The three dancehall chanters Winky D, Soul Jah Love and Shinsoman will clash for the first time after scooping awards at the Zimbabwe dancehall awards held a few weeks ago at the Zimbabwe College of Music.

The Ninja president, as Winky D is affectionately known in the dancehall circles, was the biggest winner scooping four awards — best male, best video for his video Vashakabvu, best social message, best live performer — and his manager Elder Banda won the best manager accolade.

Shinsoman, real name Romeo Antonio, and Soul Jah Love won song of the year with Mawayawaya and best upcoming artist respectively.
