Mutasa had fallen out with Dinyero and recommended his departure which was confirmed by the Zvishavane-based club’s executive last week.

The recently-crowned Uhuru Cup champions’ executive has already made it very clear that they will appoint an assistant coach who would have been recommended by the head coach.

Kawondera is now assured to be the next FC Platinum coach after Mutasa confirmed that he is his choice to fill the void left by Dinyero. The only stumbling block for his imminent move to the Midlands is that FC Platinum must table an offer which he will accept.

“Yes, I can confirm that Ralph is one of the coaches I am looking at and I would love another reunion with him. I will definitely recommend his appointment to the executive.

“From the knowledge I have of him and with the objectives of this club in mind, I think he can add value. So tentatively he is my preferred choice,” Mutasa said.

He had kind words though for his departing friend and lieutenant Dinyero.

“I will miss Masimba. He is a good friend we worked together for a very long time both as players and then coaches. He unfortunately failed to live up to expectations, but I will not go into much detail of what really happened for professional reasons,” he said.

Coming to the Zvishavane-based side Mutasa found the club having a dubious honour of not having beaten Dynamos and Caps United, but he has managed to break that jinx with two wins over DeMbare and last weekend’s win over Caps United which marked his first win of the season.

Mutasa, however, remains calm over his latest exploits in the Midlands choosing to give credit to his employers and the supporters. “History is meant to be broken. Funny enough it is happening when I am in charge of the team, but I think credit has to go to people behind the scenes, the executive and the fans have been very supportive,” he said.
