Organiser of the event, Marshall Malaba, said the competition was meant to develop talents of young people and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“This is an annual competition designed to bring young Christian dancers from different churches in the city together to create a ministry platform that incorporates young people to work together and spread the message of Christ,” Malaba said.

There would be prizes galore, according to Malaba, including cash and a trophy.

The competition has been open to all genrés such as s’bujwa, gumboot, raggae, hip-hop and kwaito.

Extremes Dance Group won the competition in 2011 while Supreme Beings took the trophy in 2012. Last year’s winners were a kwaito dance crew Honours Academy who left the crowd begging for more.

Malaba told Southern Eye Lifestyle that the competition is likely to expand into other cities such as Harare, Gweru and Kwekwe.

“We are looking to expand into other cities in the next years to come. We have had professional dance groups such as Rolex and Reflex hip-hop dance crews based in Harare performing in our shows. We are determined that B3 will grow to become one of the countries’ most recognised dance competitions with an aim to spread the good message of Christ,” he added.
