Victoria Falls based Ubuntu Bobuntu, an a cappella outfit, has defied odds by releasing a debut six-track digital versatile disc (DVD) album titled On Footsteps expected to propel ensemble to regional and international stardom.

The eight-member a cappella outfit comprising Sibangilizwe Sibanda, Ndabezinhle Maseko, Prosper Chuma, Phanankosi Nyathi, Holyman Ncube, Bongani Ndlovu and Calep Madzimbamuto has the potential to ride waves in the music industry as they have already made a mark in the town’s leisure spots.
Sibanda, speaking on behalf of the group, told Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday that the album is about preaching the gospel of peace, love and harmony.
“This album is all about a cappella and tip-toe dances and the videos have been shot around Victoria Falls,” he said.
The DVD was produced by Native Soul Media.
The group is based at Elephant Hills hotel and was formed in 1999.
It has managed to record two albums, Africa My Home in 2004 and Ubuntu Bethu –Our Humanity in 2012.

Sibanda said the group was honoured as best classic entertaining group by Grand Circle in Canada in conjunction with Elephant Hills and has managed to share a stage with some of the big wigs from the international stage.
“Recently, the group has managed to share a stage with international groups like Harvard Crocodiles from the United States and Zhing Zheng from China. The group is set to have live shows soon and we are looking at international market too,” he said.
Ubuntu Bobuntu was nominated in the National Arts Merit Awards in 2012 and has groomed award winner poet Obert Dube.
