Xmo Promotions, announced the cancellation of the show in a public notice yesterday.

The show had been set for Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Hall 3.

Sylvester Machingura, speaking on behalf of the promoter, said: “Our target was the churches and the response that we have been getting from them is poor.

“This would not have been just a show, but an opportunity to preach the gospel of God to gospel lovers and fellow churches to worship together at this life transforming occasion.

“Flocks are led by pastors and I believe if pastors had encouraged people to come, we would have sold out the tickets. We are yet to go around churches and ask what the problem was before we organise another show.”

Machingura attributed the poor response to other factors, particularly the football World Cup which kicks off in Brazil today. The cold weather and the fact that it is in the middle of the month before people receive their salaries.

The cancellation of the show comes hard on the heels of the flopped Harare Sunshine City Choir gig over the weekend in which organisers also blamed the churches for not supporting it.
