Joe Ncube, popularly known as Joe the OG, who doubles up as the organiser, confirmed the show adding that it was targeted at the mature revellers.

“This will be a night filled with old school hits from the ’80s and the ’90s. It is for the mature who should come expecting a great time. We want to remind them of the good old days,” he said.

“Nowadays the elderly are overlooked by promoters who often target the youth and promote the latest dancehall, hip-hop, house music beats.

“I invited the Gig Master because of his depth in knowledge of the old school selection. He was based in Bulawayo before he relocated to Harare six years back. He therefore knows his target market.”

Masawi, arguably the best old school DJ in the country, is expected to start performing at the club from 8pm till late.

In an interview with Southern Eye Lifestyle, Masawi said he boasts being the oldest DJ in the music industry.

“I started playing in 1989. I have played in every top night club in Harare and across the country. I have been consistent in the game since then. I have not retired as others did,” he said.

Presently Masawi is a producer and presenter at Star FM. He claims to have been the first to play in various night clubs among them Brass Monkey.

He has also played at Windemere and Sneaky’s night club.

He launched “Old Skool Reunion”, a monthly gig that features Zimbabwe’s hottest DJs, together with famous Dj’s such as United Kingdom-based DJ Kelvin “Soul Supreme” Sifelani, Tich Mataz and others in April this year.
