SOUTH African National First Division campaigners Witbank Spurs have officially confirmed their interest in Highlanders striker Cleopas Dube.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede said they received correspondence from Witbank Spurs yesterday and what is left now is to iron out the details of the deal. Dube will be returning to South Africa today.

“Witbank Spurs have officially written to us to say they are interested in Cleopas Dube and now the ball is in our court to say can you give us a little something. We just received the letter today and unfortunately my bosses are not here,” said Gumede.

He passed by here in the morning and told me that he is going back to South Africa tomorrow (today).

“This is actually good for the young man,” Gumede said.

Dube joined Highlanders from ZPC Hwange at the beginning of last season and was loaned to Division One side Plumtree Chiefs (then Bulawayo Chiefs) mid-season before returning to the Bulawayo giants at the start of the 2014 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

He has not been a regular player at Bosso coming in from the bench. Dube will be the fourth player from Highlanders to join a South African side following Kuda Mahachi (Mamelodi Sundowns), Milton Ncube (Ajax Cape Town) and Khumbulani Banda (Maritzburg United).
