Club chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede yesterday said they had written to the PSL seeking to hike the fees as a control measure since Hartsfield can accommodate fewer spectators.

“We have requested the PSL to hike the gate charges to $5 for rest of the ground, $10 and $15 for VIP as a control measure as Hartsfield can only take in a few spectators. “We have written to the PSL today (yesterday) and we are waiting for the response,” Gumede said.

Football fans usually pay $3 for rest of the ground, $5 for the western wings and $10 for the VIP at Barbourfields Stadium, which has been closed due to renovations taking place in preparation for the African Union Sports Council Region V Under-20 Youth Games to be hosted by Bulawayo in December.

PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said they had not received Highlanders’ correspondence by yesterday afternoon.

Bulawayo clubs — Highlanders, Chicken Inn, How Mine and Bantu Rovers — will use Hartsfield as Barbourfields and Luveve have been closed until after the Youth Games in December.
