The win did not only add three points to their tally but gave them the much needed confidence as they halted ZPC Kariba who had gone for 19 matches without losing.

“We definitely wanted to win and I am happy we achieved it. Chapungu assistant coach Clement Mugari said after the win.

“We needed to start picking points early to achieve our objective and we are in the right direction.

“Winning against a team which has never lost, will give the much needed confidence to the boys as the league progresses,”

The stage for the midweek heroic act had seemingly been set when three Air force of Zimbabwe planes had a fly past at the match venue in a diamond formation just before kickoff.

“Yes it indeed motivated us of course, but that was merely a coincidence the guys actually played well and they deserved to win,” Mugari said.

The Airmen travel to Harare for a date against Caps United this weekend and will need to be at their best to pull off another giant killing act against the title chasing side.

They will however be motivated by their previous 3-0 rout of the Green Machine the last time they met at Ascot stadium.
