First in line up is the dinner dance that will be held at a local hotel this evening. The dinner dance and the golf tournament are aimed at raising funds for the Tsanga Lodge Convalescent Centre, Widows and Orphans Fund, Army Benevolent Funds, Army Schools Welfare Trust and the Patients Welfare Fund.

Army Charities secretary Major Fabion Chitungo yesterday said they were ready to hold the two events.

“Preparations for the dinner dance and the golf tournament are on target. We are ready for the two events. We will start of with the dinner dance at Rainbow hotel tomorrow (today).Our guest speaker is going to be Hebert Nkala. His topic is Creating a Legacy. Nkala is respected in the business community. The topic is relevant to the business community and individuals. Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube will be the director of ceremonies,” he said. Chitungo explained the importance of the two events.

“Our aim is to fundraise for the underprivileged members for the armies five charities. The dinner dance is $75 per individual. We are urging corporates to buy tickets its $750 per table. We will then have the golf tournament at Harry Allen on Saturday (tomorrow). We are encouraging people to come and participate. We will be trading guns for golf clubs,” he said. Last year, the Zimbabwe National Army Charities Golf tournament and dinner dance raised $30 000.
