The former Warriors striker scored the second goal with a classical first- time finish in the 14th minute after Mondli Cele had opened the floodgates in the 10th minute.

The third goal was an optional time penalty by Kurt Lentjies to give Maritzburg the three points.

Ndumiso Mabena scored six minutes before full time for Platinum Stars.

Maritzburg are home to former Highlanders defender Khumbulani Banda who also played in that match.

Maritzburg are on the eighth spot on the log table with 12 points from eight matches registering three wins, three draws and two defeats.

In another Absa PSL match on Saturday, Zimbabwe’s 2013 Castle lager Premier Soccer League top goal scorer Tendai Ndoro played full 90 minutes when his Mpumalanga Black Aces beat Moroka Swallows 3-2 at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday.

Another Zimbabwean striker Cuthbert Malajila played for his side Mamelodi Sundowns in a goalless draw against Bidvest Wits at Loftus Stadium. Defender Onismor Bhasera played for Bidvest Wits.

Goalkeeper Washington Arubi watched three goals shoot past him when his University of Pretoria lost 3-0 to SuperSport United in a match that featured another former Dynamos player Partson Jaure who was pulled out for Tebogo Monyai in the 37th minute.
