Bonang to shine at MTV EMA awards

-

DURBAN — TV and radio presenter Bonang Matheba will be reporting from the red carpet at the MTV European Music Awards in Scotland next month.

Although Matheba has presented overseas before, she has never reported from such a prestigious event. Not only will she be bringing exclusive interviews to South African music lovers, she will be rubbing shoulders with international music stars.

Matheba said she was excited.

“I have a very good relationship with MTV and when they gave me a call I thought ‘Oh my God, yes’. I am nervous, but I am so ready.”

Matheba will rub shoulders with international bigwigs like Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

“It’s going to be my first time in Scotland. I am really looking forward to meeting Nicki Minaj who is also hosting the show. I love Nicki. She is a master of all trades,” she said.

“I am also looking forward to meeting Iggy Azalea because I am dying to ask her about her recent squabble with Snoop Dogg.”

Despite her already hectic schedule with Metro FM and Top Billing, her Revlon ambassadorship, her lingerie line with Woolworths and her online reality show Bedazzled, she said she could not say no.

“It’s not just about the red carpet, it’s about documenting everything that happens before the big night, all the pre-parties, behind-the-scenes production, the after-parties and everything in between,” she said.

“After having produced my own red carpet show for the South African Music Awards and sharpening up my expertise as a broadcast professional, I am more than ready to do what I love the most on international platforms like the EMAs.

“This opportunity is a showcase of Africa’s growth and involvement in the bigger picture of the international business of entertainment.

“I’m really exhilarated to be representing African media at MTV’s EMA red carpet.”

The 2014 MTV EMAs will be broadcast live on Sunday, November 9, at 10pm.
