The previous executive was led by Mandishona Mtasa as the president, Ibrahim Ralbuh Mase (vice-president), Charles Kwangwari (secretary-general), Innocent Mwoyosvi (executive director), Isaya Chinyama (treasurer), Washington Nyika (development officer) and Thembani Moyo (board member — administration).

SRC sports governance officer Charity Nyamayedenga confirmed the new executive that will also work on an interim basis.

“Morris Banda from Bulawayo is the president, Innocent Mwoyosvi is the vice-president, Sheila Chikuwi of Manicaland is the secretary-general and Joram Zifunzi of Manicaland (treasurer). Those are the four executive members on an interim basis until May next year,” she said.

Nyamayedenga said they had also put in place an investigation team that would look into the allegations.

“There is an investigation of any matters that have to do with baseball in the country and matters to do with equipment and funds because stakeholders feel there were irregularities concerning these and there was no one to account,” she said.

“We have appointed Winmore Mubariri of Harare and Washington Nyika of Bulawayo to help with the investigation.”

Mase was also co-opted into the investigating team, but declined only accepting to “assist with whatever the investigators need as he is the one with all the information”.

The SRC official said the interim executive has to come up with a draft constitution that will be looked into when the SRC board meets next year between March and April.

“We expect changes in the sport by the time they present the constitution,” she said.

“The people that have been put in the executive are eager to work.”
