Speaking to Southern Eye Lifestyle, event organiser Gilmore Moyo said it is a concept they came up with to allow the general public to purchase their favourate pieces from the designers.

“This will be an end of-year-annual event that will be held in collaboration with a few local designers. The main idea is to flood the streets with local designer clothes and also to appreciate our own creative,” Moyo said.

Designers will be at a local boutique for the sell-off.

“We are excited to be presenting this initiative which should allow our own people to consume 100% Zimbabwean products.

The designer sell off is meant to clear all pieces that the designers have been stocking throughout the year.

Everything will be ridiculously affordable and everyone who will come through should leave with one or more pieces,” he said .

Among the designers will be Ara Kani, who showcased at the recently ended Intwasa Fashion Show, KOAS in Cape Town and the Durban Fashion Fair.

Zanele Dube of Zah Designs, who participated at the Matabeleland Fashion Week and Wani Baker will also have her Afrocentric pieces available on sale alongside Accessory Designers — Snini Collection and BlinQ Xclusive Jewellery.

Shadow by Sidumiso, one of the outstanding male designers in the country, and Sanah Designs, a student at the Bulawayo Polytechnic, will also participate in the sell-off.
