The development was revealed to fazfootball.com on Saturday by FAZ communications manager Nkweto Tembwe.
“We can confirm that the Zambia national football team will on January 4 2015 play the South African national team in Johannesburg, South Africa,” he said.
“The game has been organised as part of a series of matches that Football House has lined up for the Chipolopolo who are participating in the 30th edition of the Africa Cup to be held in Equatorial Guinea.”
Zambia qualified to the finals tournament of the 2015 Equatorial Guinea Africa Cup of Nations as Group F runners-up and are placed in Group B along with the Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tunisia.
In qualifying, the Chipolopolo won three matches, registered two draws and lost only once.
Bafana Bafana have made a lot of progress since hosting the tournament two years ago when they were eliminated at the quarter-final stage on penalties by Mali.
They qualified as Group A winners in the group that had now-deposed champions Nigeria without losing a single match having registered three wins and three draws. They are placed in Group C along with Ghana, Senegal and Algeria.
