A source close to the GameCocks, told Southern Eye Sport yesterday FC Platinum’s Katsvairo and Harare City’s Mburayi will be part of Chicken Inn when they start pre-season preparations tomorrow.

“Katsvairo and Mburayi will be at Chicken Inn when they start training. Just go and watch the training session on Tuesday (tomorrow) and you would see the two players. They would be in Bulawayo,” the source said.

However, Chicken Inn officials could neither confirm nor deny that the two strikers are on Chicken Inn’s radar with secretary Tavengwa Hara only saying they were meeting with the players and technical team today before starting pre-season training tomorrow.

“We are just meeting and then going to church. We are a praying team.

“The best person to talk to will be the coach on Tuesday (tomorrow) when we start training for the season,” Hara said.

The GameCocks are yet to sign a new deal with Mkhokheli Dube and have released Ramson Zhuwawo, Tonderai Charles, Last Chibwiro and goalkeeper Bhekimpilo Ncube.

They could be losing goalkeeper Liberty Chirava and midfielder Canaan Nkomo to Highlanders and captain Danny “Deco” Phiri, who is going on trials to South African Absa PSL side Free State Stars this week.

Phiri, who has been at the centre of speculative moves, signed a three-year contract with Chicken Inn in November last year, and if the South Africa move does not materialise, he will be back with the GameCocks.

A few weeks ago, chairman Lifa Ncube said they were confident of the squad they have and will not be looking for any big names.

Ncube said they will be promoting five players from junior ranks. One of the players who had an impressive season last year after graduating from the juniors is defender Devine Lunga.
