THE Zimbabwe Baseball Association (ZBA) is not certain whether it will send a team to South Africa for the Easter Tournament that will be held in Gauteng this year as the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) is yet to authorise the trip.

GRACE CHIRANGANDE SPORTS REPORTER ZBA interim president Morris Banda said a provisional team was already in place.

“For now it is difficult to comment because we have already made some efforts, but we have not yet received confirmation from the SRC about our participation,” he said.

“We had a tournament at the end of last year on December 6 and 7 where five provinces took part in the Dream Cup with Harare emerging winners. From that tournament we selected our provisional team for the Easter tournament in South Africa.”

Last year the SRC dissolved the Zimbabwe Softball and Baseball Association interim executive following allegations of misappropriation of funds and equipment.

Banda said they were looking forward to a very successful sporting season this year.
