Zanu PF holier-than-thou attitude misplaced

WE suddenly wake up to news all over the media that Didymus Mutasa has supped with the Rhodesian devil with a short spoon through the BSAP and other nefarious activities, because Zanu PF has sacked him.

WE suddenly wake up to news all over the media that Didymus Mutasa has supped with the Rhodesian devil with a short spoon through the BSAP and other nefarious activities, because Zanu PF has sacked him.

We are wondering whether connections to PISI, CIO, CIA, FBI or some other such intelligence organisations will emerge around him and other members of the ousted Joice Mujuru cabal.

What is not forthcoming from the supposed juicy revelations is that a whole mass of Zanu PF old timers was once upon a time involved in systematic genocide where a conservative estimate of 20 000 unarmed and defenceless Ndebele civilians perished in Matabeleland and the Midlands (Zanu PF has true figures of the genocide).

Some well-known plotters of the savagery Gukurahundi have instead been promoted to top echelons of the ruling party and government.

Do we understand that Gukurahundi connections will be revealed when such individuals of high office leave Zanu PF?

Some revelations are made juicier by information that Mutasa’s relatives were given 15 farms each. Noticing how wide and generous the patronage to Zanu PF praise singers has been, and using a conservative figure of 20-farm allocation to relatives, who knows how many farms have been given to friends and relatives in the whole mess that governance of this country has been?

Lest we forget, a certain woman is muscling her way into owning a whole district to turn it into an orphanage and a wildlife sanctuary, and in the process, close to 200 families and their goods have been thrown into the open and left to the ravages of disease, rain and mosquitos.

While it is necessary to reveal official secrets about fallen Zanu PF angels, the Rhodesian era, which most born frees have no knowledge of, and which has been made to pale in significance because of the severity and savagery of Zanu PF through Gukurahundi; Operation Murambatsvina (2005), the pre-2008 election and other plebiscite periods; fast-track land reform and the routine disappearance of supposed enemies, it is necessary to remind Zimbabwean citizens that recent and contemporary Zanu PF excesses should be highlighted instead.

No matter how Zanu PF looks at any of its members and celebrates the ousting of a certain cabal, putting up a “brave” and “honest” face are not likely to redeem the party in the eyes of the persecuted citizens of this country.
