Mafu is still assessing close to 40 players and he will be using the friendly match against FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium (BF) tomorrow as a pointer to gauge who would make it into the squad.

Young Arnold Ndiweni went for an X-ray yesterday after he was crudely lunged at by Chapungu defender Smart Muchabaiwa on Sunday at BF in another friendly match in which the two sides played a 1-1 draw.

“We are almost there. We are now looking at coming up with the final squad and handing the list over to the PSL. The game at the weekend (against FC Platinum) will give us a picture of what we are doing,” Mafu said.

He said he was hopeful that injured midfielders Mthulisi Maphosa, Erick Mudzingwa and Welcome Ndiweni would have fully recovered by tomorrow for the game.

Senior players who played on Sunday are Ariel Sibanda, Bruce Kangwa, Felix Chindungwe, Simon Munawa, Ozias Zibande, Knox Mutizwa and Godfrey Makaruse.
