Esther Zitha throws her hat in

Esther Excellia Zitha

Well, hello again, my friends! My greetings are especially warm today, and they’ll only get warmer so long as you keep returning the love on social media. Danko bahlal!

We awoke to the news that Esther Excellia Zitha, widow of the late Nkulumane MP Desire “Moyoxide” Moyo, has thrown her name into the hat for the upcoming December by-elections. Now, a wife succeeding a spouse in politics isn’t a new phenomenon.

The ruthless Queen Ranavalona of Madagascar did it successfully, and right here in southern Africa, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Grace Mugabe gave it a solid try. I wish Esther well, but let’s hope it isn’t a pity vote that results in incompetence—you know, trying to fit a round pin in a square plug.

Speaking of political shapeshifters, Albert Mhlanga recently left our jaws on the floor when he jumped ship. Kikiki—just kidding, we all saw that coming many moons ago.

A well-placed source tells me another whirlwind of recalls is brewing in Bulawayo, affecting both the ruling and opposition parties.

According to my friend—who, as always, had the details—this is all setting the stage for the “amendment of the constitution.” Kikikiki, what a time to be alive!

Say what you will about Sengezo  Tshabangu, but the man means business, hey?

Let me offer a slow clap for Asaph, who has allegedly made peace with the BAA nominees list.

He’s apparently saying he feels it’s time to give others a chance… kikiki… as if he’s the approving guru at Pixar.

Let’s hope this year the guest of honour will be someone from Bulawayo, even if they are based elsewhere as an artistic ambassador. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have Earnest Ndlovu as the star of the show, rather than importing a South African celeb and paying them a fortune?

Ncncnc, someday I’ll crack my neck from shaking my head so much.

It was a sight for sore eyes to see ex-jailbird Ward 28 councillor Mpumelelo Moyo near the City Hall.

It’s truly astounding how the same office that can catapult a person to such arrogant heights can also reduce them to such dizzying levels of humility. What a shame.

I hope he regains his dignity and rekindles the friendships he severed when he got a lofty seat on the council.

On a more heartwarming note, what a lovely gesture from DStv Zimnandi this past Friday, when they donated furniture to Nketa Primary School.

It was a day of genuine celebration and gratitude within the school and community.

The pay-per-view channel has made commendable efforts to include the Matabeleland region in its programmes, with the general manager promising that most of their events will be held on this side.

Remember the premiere of Shaka iLembe at Hillside in Bulawayo? Exactly.

Alright, now I have to rush off to my friend—the one who bizarrely knows and updates me on everything. Remember to be good; if you can’t be good, be safe. Catch up with me on Instagram @SouthernEye/SE.
