CeCe Winans coming to Harare

CeCe Winans is coming to Zimbabwe for a performance at the Celebration Centre in Harare on August 26

MULTI-AWARD winning American gospel singer CeCe Winans is set to perform in Harare on August 26 at the Celebration Centre as part of her international tour dubbed More Than This Tour.

The tour will be courtesy of the GEC Events Company.

GEC Events events director Lyncolin Kapswara told NewsDay Life & Style that Winans’ performance is a significant event for gospel music enthusiasts in Zimbabwe, which will offer a rare opportunity to experience her powerful vocals and uplifting ministry live.

Kapswara added that their company continued to grow in confidence by bringing in international artistes and has all the confidence Winans’ performance will be inspirational as well as memorable.

“CeCe Winans is coming to Zimbabwe for a performance at the Celebration Centre in Harare on August 26. As usual, GEC Events shall put a strong line up of local gospel music supporting acts,” he said.

“CeCe Winans’ music is characterised by its rich blend of traditional gospel, contemporary Christian, and soul influences. Her powerful voice and heartfelt lyrics resonate deeply with audiences worldwide, addressing themes of faith, hope and love.

“Over the years, CeCe has evolved artistically, embracing various musical styles while staying true to her gospel roots. Her live albums, in particular, showcase her dynamic stage presence and ability to connect with audiences at a profound level.

“Her discography includes Alone in His Presence (1995), Everlasting Love (1998), Alabaster Box (1999), Purified (2005), Let Them Fall in Love (2017), Believe for It (2021) and More Than This (2024).” Kapswara said.

Winans is arguably the best-selling and most-awarded female gospel artiste in modern music history, with her illustrious career marked by an impressive 17 Grammy, 31 Dove and 16 Stellar awards.

She has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the Nashville Music City Walk of Fame.

She has also been honoured as a Trailblazer of Soul by BMI and has received multiple NAACP Image, Soul Train and Essence awards.

Winans’ first live recording, Believe for It by PureSprings Gospel/ Fair Trade Services, LLC, exceeded all expectations, amassing over one billion US streams.

In 2023 alone, her entire catalogue garnered over two billion impressions on YouTube.

Her current album, More Than This, features the award-winning single That’s My King, already hailed as a Winans classic, with Come Jesus Come being touted as the next anthem.

Beyond music, Winans and her husband, Alvin Love, are the founders of Nashville Life Church in Nashville, Tennessee in the US.
