
Zanu PF has vowed to clinch the vacant Chivhu ward 10 urban seat despite the opposition fielding a candidate.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor Amos Reza, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident.
Zanu PF recently held its primary elections where Tafadzwa Mukandi emerged the winner.
The by-election will be held on July 26.
The opposition dominates all the four urban wards in Chivhu.Addressing party supporters during a campaign launch event at the weekend,
Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial political commissar Lincoln Matare said they will work hard and grab the seat from the opposition.
"We are leaving no stone unturned, we want the seat at all cost and on July 26 we will be celebrating our victory," Matare said."
Zanu PF has not lost any by-election since 2023 and the trend will continue.

“The people here are now aware of how good our President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) is, a lot of opposition party supporters have joined Zanu PF hence we are going to take over this seat.
"A number of well-known opposition party members who defected to Zanu PF were paraded during the gathering.
Mukandi will face Tawanda Muchenje, a well-known opposition activist in Chivhu who will contest as an independent candidate.
