ZANU PF Harare province chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa in the spotlight after his executive allegedly received vehicles from businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei without following due process.
Tagwirei donated a fleet of vehicles for the Harare provincial leadership after the province recommended his co-option into the powerful Zanu PF central committee.
The central committee is the ruling party’s highest decision-making body outside congress.
“Masimirembwa let the province down by accepting the donation without following proper procedure. He did not consult with the party leadership. Masimirembwa is a seasoned politician, he should have handled the matter properly,” sources privy to the provincial structures said.
Another source said Harare province was in the spotlight.
“We are now being seen as people who are motivated by personal gain and are trashing procedure. There are several issues emerging within the party structures in Harare and we will be hearing more very soon,” the source said.
Recently, Zanu PF secretary-general Obert Mpofu wrote to all provincial structures about the regularisation of vehicles donated in the name of the party.
Mpofu said the ruling party was embarking on an exercise to regularise the use and registration of vehicles donated in the name of the party to either individuals or associations.

Masimirembwa was not answering calls with messages sent to his number not responded to.
Meanwhile Zanu PF director of information Farai Marapira has said there are no divisions in the party.
“There are no divisions in Zanu PF, where oversights may occur, the leadership must correct the anomalies. That speaks to the vibrancy and discipline of the party, not divisions,” he said.
