RPAZ inks anti-corruption pledge, commits to integrity in operations

The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) has signed the integrity pledge

The Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) has signed the integrity pledge, in a development that officially marks its commitment towards a zero tolerance policy for corruption in its operations.

An integrity pledge is a declaration, made publicly, to uphold high ethical standards and fight against corruption.

Speaking at the integrity committee training and pledge signing ceremony in Harare, chairperson of the RPAZ, Anna Mary Nyakabau said the organization had taken the step to create trust between them and stakeholders across the board.

“It is this trust that enables us to operate effectively, to lead with credibility, and to deliver on our mission with confidence,” said Nyakabau.

Nyakabau also said that the coinciding formation of functional integrity committees is a critical step in institutionalizing ethical conduct across all levels of RPAZ’s operations.

“These committees are not just compliance mechanisms—they are champions of a culture where doing the right thing is not optional, but expected,” she said.

The renewed commitment comes at a time corruption has become a significant problem in Zimbabwe's government institutions, affecting various sectors and leading to significant economic and social consequences.

In his opening remarks for the integrity training, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) Manager of Compliance and Systems Review, Tafirenyika Maringire said the RPAZ’s pledge marked “a powerful and unequivocal declaration of this vital authority’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and integrity in all its operations.”

“The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) expresses its profound appreciation for this resolute commitment to integrity by the RPAZ leadership and staff.

“By publicly signing an Integrity Pledge, you are demonstrating that integrity is not merely an abstract concept (but) it is a living, breathing commitment that must be nurtured, affirmed, and relentlessly upheld in every facet of your work,” Maringire said.
