TSHOLOTSHO villagers in Ward 18 heaved a sigh of relief after a buffalo that was terrorising the community was shot dead by Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Managements Authority (Zimparks) rangers.
Ward 18 councillor, David Mpala, said Nkunzi villagers were living in fear of the buffalo that was roaming around their community.
“We think it came from Ward 7 areas, but according to the rangers it escaped from the game park,” Mpala said.
“People were living in fear because there were rumours that in Mpanidziba village here in Tsholotsho that a woman was killed by another buffalo.”
Mpala complained about an increase in the number of wild animals that include lions, which roam around their communities in search of food and water.
“One of the major reasons these animals are escaping from the game park is because of the drought,” he said.
