BCC receives 50 refuse bins to boost cleaning

Altcom handed over 50 refuse bins and 30 brooms to support Bulawayo’s ongoing clean-up campaign.

BULAWAYO needs at least 500 refuse bins to achieve total cleanliness and order amid reports that the city has a shortage of 300 bins.

This was revealed yesterday when a Bulawayo-based company donated 50 refuse bins to the Bulawayo City Council to ensure the city remains a shining example of cleanliness and order.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in the city yesterday, Altcom managing director Mamvura Moyo said his company had made a significant contribution towards enhancing the cleanliness of Bulawayo.

Altcom handed over 50 refuse bins and 30 brooms to support Bulawayo’s ongoing clean-up campaign.

“This initiative comes at a crucial time, as the city has identified a need for over 500 refuse bins to support its cleanliness goals.

“We believe in not just building structures but building community spirit. Today, we take a tangible step towards ensuring our city remains a shining example of cleanliness and order,” Moyo said.

He said this year’s contribution marked the third consecutive year that Altcom engaged in such initiative.

“Civic responsibility is not an obligation, it is a privilege. I encourage fellow businesses to join in the fight against litter and neglect in the community,” Moyo said.

“When good companies prosper, the city rejoices and that through the success of responsible organisations, the city is exalted.”

Bulawayo mayor David Coltart paid tribute to the company, adding that the city needed a total of 500 refuse bins.

“The city needs 500 refuse bins, but for now it only has more than 200 bins,” Coltart said.
