CONSTRUCTION of Zishumbe Clinic in Masvingo North constituency is nearing completion, bringing hope of improved healthcare services to villagers.
The project, being implemented under government’s devolution programme, aims to bring critical services closer to rural communities.
“Our people deserve quality healthcare without having to travel long distances,” Masvingo North Member of Parliament Brain Mudhumi said during a tour.
“This is what President Emmerson Mnangagwa means when he talks about leaving no one and no place behind.”
Mudhumi said the clinic was part of many developmental initiatives being rolled out under the second republic.
“We are working flat out to make sure people in rural areas enjoy the same services as those in towns,” he said.
“Healthcare is a basic need and we are making it a reality here in Zishumbe.”
During a recent visit to the site, steady progress was observed on the building, which include a waiting area, consultation rooms and staff accommodation.

Local villagers expressed joy and gratitude for the development.
“Once complete, the clinic will serve hundreds of people who currently travel long distances to health centres in Ndanga or Masvingo city,” said Isaac Chikosi, a local villager.
“This clinic is going to save lives. We used to walk or hire scotch carts just to reach Ndanga Hospital. Now help is coming to our doorstep.”
The project is being funded through devolution funds, which have enabled local authorities to implement people-centred programmes that respond to the needs of communities.
The clinic is set to open its doors to patients before the end of the year.
