The Welshman Ncube-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has backtracked on its earlier plans to hold an elective congress in September this year.
In May, party spokesperson Willias Madzimure announced that the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) had resolved to convene the congress in September 2025.
"The key resolutions made include the elective congress scheduled for September 2025,” Madzimure was quoted as saying at the time.
“The NEC resolved that branch, constituency, and provincial congresses be convened promptly following the national council meeting in full compliance with the party's constitution.”
In an interview with Southern Eye, the party’s presidential spokesperson Kurauone Chihwai said the CCC was currently focused on preparing for the 2028 national elections.
“We are lubricating the party machine ahead of our big game in 2028,” Chihwai said without providing a specific timeframe.
“Ncube is working on strengthening party structures before releasing the congress programme.
“The owners of the party will soon convene to elect a new leadership.”
