A Plumtree man is in trouble on charges of assaulting his brother’s maid in a dispute over groundnuts.
The suspect, Hlanganiso Ncube (43), appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing physical abuse charges.
Prosecutor Sheilla Nyathi told the court that on August 9 this year, the complainant was doing her routine domestic chores when the accused sent his daughter to collect some round nuts.
The complainant refused stating that there were no round nuts save for the few reserved for planting.
This did not go down well with the accused, who proceeded to his brother’s house and requested for the keys to the spare room where the nuts were allegedly being kept.
A misunderstanding arose between the two after the complainant refused with the keys.
Ncube allegedly slapped the complainant once on the face near the right eye before beating her with a switch all over her body.
He then left for his homestead.
