THE City of Bulawayo is set to begin 2026 budget consultative meetings this Friday as part of efforts to include residents and stakeholders in the city’s financial planning processes.
According to a notice from the Office of the town clerk, the meetings will run until September 29 and will be held across various wards, schools and community halls in the city.
Town clerk Christopher Dube confirmed the purpose of the initiative, stating that the engagements “will be facilitated by ward councillors and the aim of the consultation meeting is to present the 2026 budget.”
The first meeting will kick off at Pumula North Hall, followed by a series of others at venues including Tshabalala Hall, Nkulumane Hall, Nketa 7 Library, Mahlathini Primary School and Emganwini Secondary School, among others.
Special sessions have also been scheduled for key interest groups such as the business community, women, youth, transport operators and non-governmental organisations, with all-stakeholder engagements set to take place at City Hall on September 29.
Bulawayo residents have always complained about poor service delivery, bill estimation, privatisation of some services and stringent conditions on allocation of stands that has seen only those with money mostly from outside Bulawayo benefit.
