Two women from Bulawayo are jointly demanding US$60,000 each in compensation from a local teacher for allegedly having an adulterous affair with their husband.
In summons filed through their lawyer, Kossam Ncube, Jacqueline Dorothy Kunene and Legina Muchimbe accused Tracy Chikohora of causing them emotional distress by having an affair with their husband, Lovemore Mpofu.
Kunene stated she has been married to Mpofu, a farmer and businessman, for the past six years, while Muchimbe has been with him for 25 years.
“We are instructed that despite your knowledge of his marriage to our client, you still went on to have an adulterous affair with him,” Ncube wrote on behalf of Muchimbe.
He added that Chikohora “publicly flaunted your relationship with him and caused our client immense humiliation.”
Both women claimed their marriages have been under severe strain since the affair began.
“Your affair with our client’s husband has acutely embarrassed her and caused serious tension in their marriage,” Ncube wrote.
“Her marriage is going through serious problems owing to your sexual intrusion into their otherwise peaceful marriage. Owing to your adulterous affair, she has suffered a lot of trauma and psychological anguish.”

“In the premises, we are instructed to demand, as we hereby do, adultery damages in the sum of US$60,000 within seven (7) days of this letter,” the summons read.
“Failure to comply will leave us with no option but to institute legal proceedings against you without further notice.”
