
THE Africa-Nordic summit presents new opportunities for the continent, Foreign Affairs minister, Aaron Murwira, said.
The summit being held in Harare is a high-level diplomatic gathering aimed at deepening collaboration between Africa and Nordic countries in trade, innovation, technology, and multilateral diplomacy.
Murwira said the summit was critical for consolidating Africa-Nordic partnerships and advancing sustainable development.
He also highlighted Africa’s resource potential and the need for equitable partnerships.
“Africa today is not asking for donations or passive assistance. We are seeking mutually beneficial partnerships,” he said.
“Southern Africa alone holds at least 35 percent of the world’s mineral resources. We must leverage these resources for development instead of simply extracting and leaving..
“Energy, industry, and technology are areas where Nordic countries and Africa can cooperate for shared prosperity.”
Murwira emphasized that the meeting was also a platform for building sustainable and democratic societies.

“Zimbabwe’s foreign policy is anchored on multilateralism, guided by the principles of sovereign equality of nations and peaceful co-existence. No nation can prosper in isolation,” he said.
“Our model of cooperation in education, science, technology, and innovation reinforces friendship and shared goals. Technology must be geared towards local circumstances to truly meet local needs.
Zimbabwean Ambassador to the Nordic and Baltic countries, Priscila Misihairambwi, described the summit as a milestone in Zimbabwe’s international engagement.
“The event reflected the Second Republic’s mantra of “a friend to all and an enemy to none” and demonstrated that the international community was increasingly willing to work with Zimbabwe and Africa,” she said
The meeting will also feature business roundtables, young innovators forums, and plenary sessions on trade, investment, and strengthening multilateralism.
