Byo woman in court for domestic violence

A BULAWAYO woman has been dragged to court on charges of domestic violence after she reportedly caused permanent injuries to her estranged husband’s genitals during a misunderstanding.

The suspect, Tracy Chikohora, was remanded out of custody to October 15 when she appeared at the Western Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

She faces charges of physical abuse as defined by Section 3(1)(a)  and Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act.

“In that on the 26th of September 2025 and along Plumtree road, Tracy Chikohora being wife to Lovemore Mpofu unlawfully and intentionally physically abused Lovemore Mpofu by grabbing his genitals, pulling them and causing his some injuries.”

Ellen Matenga prosecuted.

The couple have been married since September 2024.

According to the State outline, trouble started when Mpofu discovered that Chikohora was cheating on him.

Mpofu alleged that his wife would disappear for days to be with her suspected boyfriend.

The situation escalated in September this year when she moved out of their home and blocked his number.

"On 26 September, at about 0655 hours, I met the accused along Plumtree-Bulawayo Road, opposite Emganwini, and I instructed my driver to stop the vehicle so I could talk to her," Mpofu said.

"I asked the accused why she blocked my calls, and she answered with a question:

'What do you want from me?' I told her that she is my wife...

“The accused became angry and grabbed me by my private parts and started pulling them until I became weak and felt dizzy. She let me go and ran away.

A medical report confirmed the injuries.

Mpofu is a farmer, while his estranged wife is a teacher at Ark of Hope Private School
