Cheer fund donates to charities

The Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund Board of Trustees chairperson, Nothando Moyo, said the donation stems from a commitment of addressing the needs of the less privileged in the community

The City of Bulawayo last week distributed proceeds from the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund to ten charity organisations within the City.

The beneficiaries include King George VI, Jairos Jiri, Vulindlela Children’s Home, Luveve Training School for Girls, Percy Ibbotson Hostel and Luveve Remand Home, Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home, Entembeni Old People’s Home, Queen Elizabeth Adventist Children’s Home, Ingutsheni Central Hospital, and St Francis Children’s Home.

The Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund Board of Trustees chairperson, Nothando Moyo, said the donation stems from a commitment of addressing the needs of the less privileged in the community.

“We want to call to action all other stakeholders to come forward and partner with us going forward so that we can help many people,” she said.

Mayor David Coltart said his wish was to see the Fund catering for the needs of more of the City’s residents.

“I often find on my desk people who need urgent medical attention and they don’t have any medical aid,” he said.
