Delta reaffirms commitment to revitalise Bulawayo industries

Delta Corporation Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalising Bulawayo industries through investment.

DELTA Corporation Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalising Bulawayo industries through investment.

Delta  Corporation board chairperson, Todd Moyo, made the reassurance during a groundbreaking ceremony of a US$17 million brewery packaging plant at its Belmont plant in Bulawayo last week.

He said the project reconnected with the history of the company and its heritage as the site dated back to 1950.

“It carries the company symbol and name of the Sable House head office in Harare. Bulawayo is the birthplace of Sable Brewery, which opened at this site officially on 28 October 1950 with the sable head maintained as the company logo after the merger with Rhobrew," Moyo said.

“By investing here again, we reaffirm our faith in this great city, its people, its talent, its industrious spirit and its future as Zimbabwe’s industrial heartbeat. This new brew house represents our company’s determination to reinvest, re-industrialise and re-energise Bulawayo. The upgrade of the Belmont plant is key to improving the supply of our brands and packs to the market, including our customers, of the high-quality beverages they expect from Delta."

The brewery packaging plant will cost around US$17 million and is part of the upgrade and expansion of Belmont Brewery to include a second packaging line, fermentation vessels and ancillary equipment at a total cost of US$35 million.

"We are playing our part in advancing inclusive growth, industrial renewal and sustainable development, and rebuilding confidence in Bulawayo’s future as a thriving industrial city once again.

"The overall capacity of the brewery will increase to around 1,5 million hectolitres per annum,” Moyo said.

Moyo revealed that the company is embarked on a robust capital investment programme to modernise and expand its operations across Zimbabwe, supporting both market leadership and future growth.

“It's not only about beer, it's about jobs, skills and growth. It will create employment during construction and provide opportunities for local contractors, engineers, artisans and suppliers, especially from Bulawayo's surrounding communities."
