Man from Nyamandlovu has been sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to kill his workmate following a misunderstanding at the workplace

A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Nyamandlovu has been sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to kill his workmate following a misunderstanding at the workplace.

Shepherd Mudimba (27) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Taurai Manuwere facing  an attempted murder charge.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

Manuwere said Mudimba’s conduct was violent and unprovoked, adding that such behaviour could not be tolerated in a workplace environment.

The court was told that on July 1 this year, Mudimba and the complainant, Tafadzwa Nkomo (18), were at work at Mpucuko Brick Moulding Company in Nyamandlovu.

Mudimba asked Nkomo to bring him a wheelbarrow, but the latter said all the wheelbarrows were being used.

In anger, Mudimba picked up a spade and struck Nkomo once on the head accusing him of being disrespectful.

Nkomo sustained a deep cut on the head and was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.

A police report was made, leading to Mudimba’s arrest.
