The Bulawayo Provincial Heroes Acre, a significant site where regional heroes and heroines are buried, had a solar system installed following a timely donation by a local company.
ZN Solar Solutions donated five solar lights and three solar-powered street lights to the Bulawayo Provincial Hero Acre.
Company director Zenzo Ndlovu said they had also donated solar lights to five schools, Njube Police station and all 24-hour roadblocks from Bulawayo to Beitbridge.
“We have done that because we are passionate about reducing crime,” he said.
Another ZN director, Bridget Bhebhe, said the donation was in response to a plea by Bulawayo senator Molly Mpofu for street lights at the shrine.
She called on other organisations to also donate to create a crime-free community.
Senator Mpofu was involved in various initiatives aimed at empowering communities and monitoring devolution funds.
She expressed concern regarding the solar lights at the Bulawayo Provincial Heroes Acre and her pleas were heard and also expressed hope that a museum will be built in the sanctuary.

“I dream that something like Chicken Inn or Chicken Slice will be built and also a museum, where pictures of heroes, their uniforms and ammunition they used during the war are displayed so that our young
generation will know what happened during the liberation war,” Mpofu said.
