Nkulumane hosts major “Meet the Candidates” ahead of by-ections

The Nkulumane Constituency Development Committee (NCDC) will host a major ‘Meet-the-Candidates’ town hall meeting this Sunday at Nkulumane Hall in one of the constituency’s most significant pre-election engagements.

Organised under the theme Informed Citizens, Stronger Democracy, the event is designed to give residents a direct platform to scrutinise, compare, and question the manifestos and leadership plans of all parliamentary candidates contesting the upcoming elections.

Over 1 000 registered voters from Wards 22 and 23 are expected to attend.

Confirmed candidates set to face the electorate include Auxilia Zitha (Independent), Ethel Sibanda (MDC-T), Nompilo Ncube Malaba (ZANC), Alson Moyo (Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters – EFF), Rodney Donovan Jele (Independent), Mbuso Fuzwayo (Independent) Freedom Murechu (Zanu PF), Mothusi “Madlela” Ndlovu (CCC) and Siziba Viyo Vivian (Zapu)

Andrew Ndlovu, chairman of the NCDC, emphasised that the initiative is a resident-driven civic process.

“Nkulumane deserves a leadership selection process that is transparent, inclusive and accountable,” Ndlovu said.

“This town hall is not a political rally—it is a community platform where every candidate will answer directly to the people.”

He credited the extensive mobilisation efforts of the constituency’s square leaders for the anticipated strong turnout, stating that residents were keen to understand what each candidate genuinely offers.

The event is coordinated by Khumbulani Malinga who is chief of staff in the office of the NCDC chairman and also a former aide to the late Member of Parliament (MP) Desire Moyo.

Malinga framed the town Hall as a continuation of the late legislator’s legacy of participatory democracy.

“Candidates must speak directly to the people—not through slogans or posters, but through open dialogue,” he said.

“This engagement honours that legacy of transparency and accountability.”

He added that the forum would help residents distinguish political rhetoric from tangible development strategies.

“Nkulumane is choosing a representative who understands service and constituency development,” Malinga said.
