Power restored to Cowdray Park

Another resident, Albert Moyo, expressed his gratitude, stating:“We had gone for many days without electricity, but we’re thankful that it’s finally back.”

RESIDENTS of Cowdray Park’s Section 6 can now breathe a sigh of relief after enduring weeks of darkness following a power outage caused by a damaged transformer.

The outage, which affected over 100 households, occurred nearly a month ago when the transformer was reportedly struck by lightning during heavy rains.

Councillor Ntando Ndlovu confirmed he was aware of the matter and had been engaging with Zesa Holdings to address the issue.

“I am fully aware of the power outage affecting Section 6,” Ndlovu said.

“It caused significant disruption, especially as we headed to the festive season. “I have been in contact with ZESA.

“They acknowledged the fault, and we continued to follow up until power was finally restored.”

While residents expressed relief, many voiced concern over the burden placed on communities during such incidents, especially when they are asked to contribute financially towards repairs.

“It affected us a lot when the power just went off and we also had to contribute some money towards the purchase of some of the equipment needed,” said Nokuthula Ndlovu, a resident.

Another resident, Albert Moyo, expressed his gratitude, stating:“We had gone for many days without electricity, but we’re thankful that it’s finally back.”

The return of electricity has brought a renewed sense of normalcy, especially as residents prepare for the holiday season.
