ZIMBABWE is holding its African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Draft Report Validation Workshop in Masvingo, a key step in preparing the country’s Targeted Review Report on Economic Governance and Management for presentation at the African Union (AU) Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, next February.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade ministry APRM focal person Albert Chimbindi said the workshop aimed to validate the draft report, ensuring that data collected aligned with findings and accurately reflected Zimbabwe’s economic governance landscape.
“This process will help to identify key issues for the President to highlight when presenting the report to his peers at the AU Summit in Addis Ababa in February 2026,” Chimbindi said.
National Governing Council chairperson James Manzou added: “It also reflects the collective efforts of government institutions, stakeholders across all sectors and development partners in ensuring a credible, inclusive and consultative process.”
The workshop, which ends today, is expected to refine the report’s findings, address gaps and consolidate recommendations that will guide Zimbabwe’s economic governance reforms and policy direction in line with continental best practices.
Zimbabwe’s engagement with APRM underscores the country’s commitment to peer review mechanisms as a platform for accountability, policy improvement and regional integration.
