The Charles Austin Theatre is set to host a dinner for Miss Charles Austin for adults and teenagers on May 16 at Chevron Hotel.
The dinner will be an unveiling its participants to the public in preparation of the main event that is set for May 31, 2026 with guest artist Masvingo based Blessing ‘Wekwamaramba’ Maramba.
In an interview with Mhlauli Mlalazi the Charles Austin theatre Director he said it is an exclusive unveiling event.
“The dinner will be held in the evening with Miss Charles Austin for adults and teenagers 2026 an exclusive unveiling event where will officially introduce this year’s contestants to the public, media and sponsors,” Mlalazi said.
“It is going to be a classy sit down dinner with entertainment, speeches and networking.
“We thought we should do something different and make people meet the contestants before the big day.
“Guests will meet the ladies vying for the crown, hear their stories and experience also the vision behind the pageant before the main event.”

“We are holding the dinner to create a proper platform to launch the contestants and give them visibility early,” Mlalazi said.
“Pageants are not just about the final night they are about the journey.
“This dinner lets sponsors, partners, and the community connect with the girls, understand the brand, and buy into what Miss Charles Austin represents: confidence, culture and community impact.
“We want the beauty pageant to go a long way and be one of the best.”
Hosting the Miss Charles Austin dinner will give leverage to the organisers.
“For us as organisers, the dinner helps in three key ways, which is visibility which positions Miss Charles Austin as a serious, well run brand before the main show.
Secondly sponsor value as partners will get direct access to an engaged audience.
Lastly momentum as it will help build hype, sell tickets for the main pageant and gets media talking early.
“For the contestants, it is confidence building and networking,” he said.
Mlalazi added that they want to change the beauty contest to a journey with a purpose.
“Unveiling the contestants first changes the narrative from just a beauty contest to a journey with purpose. The dinner lets the public see the girls beyond photos their voices, projects and personalities,” he said.
“That shift builds emotional investment early, so by the time the main event comes, people are not just watching strangers walk they are supporting young women they have met and believe in. It also raises the standard for how local pageants are run in Masvingo.”
Miss Charles Austin Theatre was founded by the 2023-2026 Charles Austin theatre management committee.
The idea came from seeing raw talent and beauty in Masvingo that was not getting a proper stage.
Charles Austin Theatre is a heritage venue and the goal was to create a pageant that celebrates local identity, empowers young women, and uses the arts to drive community pride.
It is about giving Masvingo its own premium platform instead of always looking to other big cities.
