Pumula youths shine at Byo Business Awards

YOUTHS from Pumula took centre stage through vibrant cultural performances, innovative digital exhibitions and inspirational community awareness campaigns during the Bulawayo Business Awards held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds in Bulawayo over the weekend.

The awards were held under the theme Creating a Conducive Business Environment and Quality Standards for Industrial Competitiveness in a 24-hour Economy.

More than 80 business organisations were recognised for outstanding impact on communities and economic development.

The event was attended by captains of industry from Bulawayo and government officials, Industry and Commerce deputy minister Raji Modi was the guest of honour.

The winners from Pumula were Sunshine Pre-School situated along Pumula North Main Road, Deep Plough Agriculture Co-operative Society led by Pastor Muziwandile Ncube, Cowgirl Naturals owned by young entrepreneur Phumuzile Ntonisani and Cindy Herbal Products.

However, the celebrations did not end with business excellence alone.

On the entertainment side, guests were captivated by outstanding performances throughout the event by PRACA Social Act, NTIX The Vocalist and Acquillah K.

Speaking to Southern Eye, Pumula Youth Leadership Forum co-ordinator Givemore Mangena said they wanted to change the narrative.

“Our community has been known for negativity,” he said.

“I believe the inspiration behind our local entrepreneurs and artists is their determination to rise above challenges and create opportunities for themselves and others.”

Mangena said through hard work, passion and resilience, they proved that success was not defined by where one came from, but by one’s vision and commitment.

“Our achievements are also driven by a desire to uplift our families, inspire young people and show that Pumula is a community rich in talent, creativity and potential,” he said.

Mangena said the achievements were not personal victories, but belonged to the entire Pumula community.

“They remind us that talent, resilience, hard work and innovation can emerge from any community when people are given opportunities and support,” he said.

Mangena paid tribute to all award winners and performers, adding that the future was bright and their community would continue to rise.
